MENS BOWLS NEWS 27/04/2026

Wishing all the best to our Men’s Pennant sides as the season kicks off this weekend! Please check the noticeboard for the selected sides. Strong spectator presence and support from our South Bowlo members will be most welcome by our players.

Our Division 2 team will be competing in the Division 1 & 2 section at West Tamworth. South Bowlo 2’s has a bye in round 1 following Lightning Ridge withdrawing from Division 2 and Club Gunnedah (graded Division 1 in the section), will play Inverell RSM. Play begins Saturday May 2nd with South to play the loser of Gunnedah and Inverell at 12:45pm.

The Division 3 side have a bye in Round 1 and will travel to Armidale City for Round 2 on Saturday afternoon, play commencing at 12:45pm. Cars are travelling up and back Saturday and up and back on Sunday.  On Sunday they will play the loser of Uralla and Kootingal. Skips are asked to arrange transport. Cars to leave around 10:30am on Saturday morning and around 7:00am on Sunday morning.

South Bowlo Division 4 will play at Tamworth City and have a bye in round 1 following Inverell RSM withdrawing, they will play the loser of North Tamworth and Kootingal at 12:45pm Saturday.

If Teams in Veterans Pairs are able to pre-arrange drawn games, please let me know and I will ensure we have green space and inform our greenkeepers. Thank you.

Ladies Bowls News 23/04/2026

The beautiful greens of South Tamworth were a sea of color today for President Cath's Hawaiian Ladies day.
Players from Walcha , Manilla, Quirindi, Bendameer, Tamworth City, Kootingal, West Tamworth and 27 Players from South Tamworth were all mixed up in teams to make it a very social day with many new bowlers participating.
The day was made extra special with the presence of Shirley Graham , a Foundation Member of the Ladies Club and past President. Our very special Life Member Fay Hunt, Joan Hurn ,Mother of past President Tracey Morris, Patricia Owen, Mother of President Cath and Zena Snow, a present Lady Selector.
The Winners were Cherie Lancaster from Manilla, Phyllis Key from South Tamworth and Cheryl Schipp from West Tamworth..
The Runner up's were Sari Andrews the youngest player on the day from Walcha, Carolyn Whitton from West Tamworth and Kath Daley from South Tamworth.
A huge Thank you to our C.E.O. Matt, who helped throughout the preparation and today, and to our wonderful Chef's for the delicious lunch.
Lastly a huge thank you to all our lady members who cooked for the Morning Tea, and helped with the clean up afterwards.
Next Tuesday 28th April a Semi Final of Club Selected Pairs will be played.
Phyllis Key and Ingrid Harriott are to play Cindy Harding and Tracey Morris, starting at 10am.
